As many of you know, the hubby and I will be saying farewell to South Bend in just a few short weeks. There isn’t much about the town that we’re going to miss (besides good friends and the wonderful Red Purl!), but we are going to be sad to leave the beautiful campus at Notre Dame. We took advantage of gorgeous sunny weather today to wander about and enjoy the lovely spring blooms starting to appear, and I snapped a few shots. Boy, did it feel good to take the camera out again!
I snapped this quick shot as we walked toward campus from the parking lot, and now I’m wishing I’d taken more time to set it up. It’s the only angle I’ve found that lets me get the Main Building and the Basilica both into one frame, so I’m pleased with it, but I may have to go back and get a more perfect take – I didn’t really pause and take the time to find the perfect angle, and in hindsight I think I’d change a few settings on the camera as well. But the hubby really loves it as-is, so that’s a bonus! The vintage look seemed like a no-brainer when it came time to edit.
The tulips are out everywhere! Reds, yellows, and these gorgeous pinks. After finals the hubby and I are planning a trip up to a huge tulip farm in Holland, MI, so I didn’t really spend too much time on the them this time around. But I just couldn’t resist pausing for these lovelies!
…well, ok, and these. Look, they were everywhere, and they’re my favorite! What’s a girl to do?
We stopped by the grotto to light a candle in the spirit of thanksgiving for our time here and for the adventures ahead. I felt a bit sacreligious pausing to snap a quick shot of St. Bernadette on the way out, but the opportunity was just too perfect. What a gorgeous rose! Not sure if some passerby placed it there or if it’s traditional for the Easter season, but either way it made a perfect vignette.
Tulips are certainly not the only early bloomers on campus right now! Luscious cherry blossoms are popping out all over the place. The magnolias were in bloom as well, but I’m not really happy with the photos I got of those so I’m not going to show them to you. That’s the beauty of having a blog – you only get to see the good stuff. ;)
On a related note, I’ll be listing some prints in the shop for sale again soon. I’m going back through some older images to make sure the AR will work with standard print sizes so that I don’t have to include a custom matting service – I just don’t have the time for that anymore. Once that’s done, a fun assortment of Notre Dame, Europe, and Texas prints will be up for viewing (and purchasing, if you feel so inclined).
Happy Spring to all!

Love it, love it, love it. BEAUTIFUL blossoms! Makes me want to sit down on the green and read a book there. :) Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful! The vintage look was an excellent choice. Can’t wait to see your other stuff in the shop!
